Sharing photos of the girls visiting their big cousins this week, my nephews R and M. Linking up to #Familyphotofriday with @oneformybaby12

Last week I was cleared to drive by my doctor 6 weeks after my C section. I didn't realise how much I missed my freedom until I got out and about. Now I am able to take my girls to the park (our closest was too far to walk with the pram whilst recovering from the operation) and pop to Tesco to pick up some bits without a chaperone. It feels great. At the weekend I drove down to my mum's for a two night sleepover. We had a fab time and while she worked on Saturday we visited my Grandparents, my Brother and my Auntie. It was so lovely showing my new little girl off in her little outfits as she smiled at her family then jumping into the car and off to our next visit. This is all very different to when I had Little E three years ago. I could barely walk to the car at 7 weeks post natal after a botched forceps delivery left me completely battered and requiring treatment for nearly two years. Pushing the trolley around Tesco was torture back then and by the time I reached the tills I was hunched over in agony. You'll never see my birth story on my blog because it is all still too hard to think about and I can't even see an advert for One Born Every Minute without feeling queezy but my battle to get an elective C section with Little I is well documented in my pregnancy diary posts if you'd like to read more. As I write this post we have been out this morning and will be going out for a walk after lunch to make the most of the sunshine this afternoon. I'm not taking this freedom for granted, I know what the alternative is so I am saying a big 'thank you' for the change this time around and siezing it with both hands. She especially likes to give them to Little E and when Daddy sings the songs of Frozen to her... Yes, you read that correctly. She has been a very serious, frowny baby up until now so it is wonderful to see her face break into a smile. Now we can drive (hooray!) we have been out and about non stop and had our first sleepover at Nanna's where Little I slept well in the Moses basket and kept to her 10pm, 2am, 6am feeding routine much to Mummy's delight. We did the visiting rounds to my Grandparents, Auntie and Brother and she also met my Step-Sister and Grandad for the first time. Packing the car for our two night stay was interesting - the pram takes up most of my boot so the Moses basket and stand plus the bed guard for Little E, the travel baby chair and our bags all had to fit around the 2 car seats! Luckily Husband didn't come as their was no room for anyone else! I have been dusting off my baby massage skills to try and help with the trapped wind she is getting now she is only pooing once every 24-48hrs and I'm surprised how much I remember. Little I seems to enjoy it and I think it is helping somewhat. The poos are still explosive and messy but luckily she absolutely loves the bath so she gets extra ones after a traumatic nappy! Feeding is still very frequent during the day and she insists on chewing my right nipple leaving me in permanent discomfort - Little E also disliked that side so she is following suit! My neck and upper back are taking a battering from the feeding position, car seat carrying and shoulder cuddles plus her ever increasing weight gain so I have made an appointment with my osteopath to try and keep it under control. The difference in Little E's behaviour when she has run off some energy in the fresh air is amazing. A family trip to the local park this week was a little on the chilly side but most importantly dry! A stroll around the lake meant we could feed the ducks and swans and there were plenty of logs to climb. Despite the wind we finished with ice creams and Little E sported a chocolate goatee. Throughout the adventure the littlest member of the family slept soundly in her pram... Linking up to #letkidsbekids with @karenattwinlife www.letkidsbekids.co.uk If there is one baby item you can never have enough of it is bibs. But the design of a standard bib always annoys me because all too often there is a gap between baby's neck allowing dribble to creep in. I was sent some Funky Giraffe bandana bibs to review and could immediately see they were going to fix the design flaw of the typical bib. We were sent the Summer Garden set of five bibs which costs a very reasonable £11.00. I absolutely love the bright colours and fun designs in this set. The fabric is a beautifully soft brushed cotton backed with even softer fleese. The stitching is very secure and overall the bib screams quality. The cowboy style triangular design fits snugly around baby's neck leaving no gaps for dribble to escape keeping baby's neck dry - hooray! To ensure a good fit the bib has two sets of poppers giving you the flexibility of three different neck sizes to adjust the fit for your baby. This means the bib will fit properly for longer. They also make larger size bibs for exceptionally dribbly babies, larger children and for use during weaning so you really can get the perfect fit. Little I has been very comfortable in the bibs and they have been very effective in protecting her neck and her outfit. To top it all off the bibs look really stylish and fun enhancing her outfits. Little I has received so many comments about them and the favourites are the cherry and butterfly designs. She slept on me all day and I reluctantly released her to the Moses basket next to my bed at night. Now she is three she rarely sleeps during the day unless we are out in the car but yesterday she curled up on my lap and fell into a deep, completely relaxed sleep. We were at my grandparents and I knew I'd she'd be in a shocking mood when I woke her to leave but I couldn't resist feeling her slow, deep breathing and the weight of her in my arms for an hour. Nothing beats sleepy cuddles no matter how old my baby is. Linking up to #theordinarymoments with @mummydaddyme and #mysundayphoto with @onedad3girls We finally managed to snap a picture of me and my girls on Mother's Day at bedtime! Linking up with #familyphotofriday with @oneformybaby12 Loving my Mother's Day nursery art from Little E :-) Linking up with #minicreations at www.kidglloves.com I can't believe my baby is 6 weeks old! Literally flying by. She is gorgeous and has started talking which is very exciting! She coos and squeaks when she is happy and grunts and groans when cross. Little E thinks it is fantastic. Her neck is getting so strong and the strength in her legs is also increasing and she really pushes down, especially when impatient for a feed. She is getting chunky with gorgeous chubby cheeks and a little double chin. She is weighing in at 10lb 81/2oz (or 4.77kg) if you prefer and the thought that some women give birth to babies this big is making me feel a little faint! The week has been lovely. Husband had a day off work and we went to the park to feed the ducks. I've been doing lots of breastfeeding in public and am getting the hang of not flashing my boob at the entire coffee shop. Little I has decided to stop pooing 10 times a day and instead to do one giant poo which explodes out of her happy and up her back. We had poo on her ear at one point which was lovely... I even managed coffee with my NCT mummies at the weekend WITHOUT THE 3YR OLDS! We haven't been that civilised since maternity leave first time round. One of them has a bump due in May which is exciting but also felt odd knowing I won't ever have a bump again. Little I was very well behaved sleeping through the date but then decided to wake at the end for a simultaneous feed and happy explosion. Great. Sleeping has been ok this week with only one bad night. Generally speaking Little I feeds at 10pm, 2am and 6am which isn't bad and allows me to plan accordingly. Her grumpy time is between 6pm and 10pm when she wants to cluster feed just as I am putting Little E to bed and making dinner! So wish I had smaller boobs so I could feed her in a sling whilst doing all these things but keeping her latched requires sitting still and both hands most of the time! Something exciting also happened this week - Chicco have asked me to be part of their blogger network and we will be reviewing products for them over the next year! Very excited! This post is liked to #brillblogposts and #PoCoLo over on twitter The nice weather has made messy play a lot easier and more frequent as we can decamp into the garden! This week the paints came out. Little E chose to paint some Mother's Day cards from our Baker Ross stash which was fortuitous timing as Mother's Day was just around the corner. They are nice thick card which folded over to become pop ups one you are done. As usual pink and purple were the favoured colours. It was great to see Little E trying to inmitate the letters trying to spell out MUM as she was painting. One wasn't enough and she ended up painting four cards (plus most of her hands/arms) so I am a very spoiled Mum. Craft materials supplied by Baker Ross as part of their blogger network. All opinions are our own. This post is linked to #letkidsbekids with @karentwinlife and #creativechallenge with #becomingaSAHM |
