I am taking a little break from blogging over the long Easter weekend to celebrate in Sister-in-law's wedding. It feels a long time coming but finally it is here. I am up to my eyeballs in icing sugar making the wedding cake, Husband is practising his church reading (it's from Toy Story!) and we are trying to teach a just toddling Little I to walk in a straight line in her sparkly shoes... Let me know what you are up to this Easter using the comments form below and here's a little Easter creation from Little E to brighten your day. Happy Easter everyone! A family day out at Kent Life. Happy days. Linking up to #mysundayphoto at onedad3girls.com #magicmoments at theoliversmadhouse.co.uk and podcastdove.com So Easter is around the corner and no doubt the kids will be inundated with chocolate and sweets to gorge on. They probably ingest most chocolate in one week than they do the rest of the year combined! Godiva have sent me a little Easter treat which I definitely won't be sharing with the kids! This cute pencil tin has a secret inside... Lots of yummy milk chocolate Godiva chocolate squares all for me. If you've never tried Godiva chocolate before then I have simply put, you must. The smooth and creamy quality is unsurpassed. You get 15 chocolates in this tin, each one perfectly sized for a cheeky little treat. And the great thing about this gift is when you have finished all the chocolates you can give the tin to your kids for their pencils! Sounds like a great plan! Godiva Mr Bunny tin with 15 chocolates £10 from godivachocolates.co.uk I was sent this chocolate tin for review purposes but all opinions are my own. Linking up to #triedtested at myfamilyfever.co.uk Weeks back we were sent some vouchers to try Charlie Bigham's pies. I was salivating at the thought but then the flu hit us and pies went to the back of my mind and were promptly forgotten. Fast forward to last week and I spied the vouchers on the fridge poking out from behind a drawing of a stick dog and my enthusiasm for pie returned with gusto. I whipped down to Waitrose and picked up these Steak and Ale puff pastry pies (usually £7 for the pair) I brushed the tops with milk and popped them in the oven. Then something magical happened. The pies rose like I have never seen pies rise in my life. Boom! Look at that! Husband was beyond impressed. And the pastry was light, buttery and fluffy - perfect! So now for the filling. The ale gravy was really thick and you could tell just by the colour and texture it was going to taste good. It was filled with tons of tender steak meat. Great quality with no fat. It tasted delicious and rich with flavour. Needless to say we ate the lot with a lot of gesticulating and praising with our mouths full along the way. I served the pies with cheese topped sweet potato mash, steamed carrots and broccoli which complemented it well. Plates were well and truly scraped! As an added bonus you end up with 2 very cute china ramekins to keep! I'm a sucker for a ramekin. If your cupboard is bursting with ramekins don't throw them out, your local charity shop can get £1 - £2 each for them! You can find these pies in your local Waitrose or Sainsbury's store. I've been struggling a little to balance everything that is going on in my world (and my head) at the moment and lists always help right?! So her is my 10 things I keep putting off but really need to sort out list: 1. Spring clean the house This is a priority and needs to be done in the next week or I'll officially have to close the doors to visitors. Seriously it isn't that bad, I keep on top of it ok with a bit of help from Husband but it seriously needs a good rubber glove go over. 2. Get back into exercise Husband and I started a get healthy campaign in January and whilst the healthy eating and weightloss is going well, I've fallen off the exercise wagon. We are all finally over those pesky winter viruses which seemed particularly bad this year (or was it just magnified now we have 2 children to catch them?!) so no excuses. I need to set aside 3 x 20 minute slots a week and stick to them. 3. The under the stairs cupboard Surely this needs no explanation. 4. Finish the fabric picture commission I started I have always loved playing with scraps of fabric. I started making fabric pictures from old baby clothes for friends and before Xmas one of my NCT friends gave me a selection of cute little baby grows to turn into an owl picture. They are still sitting in th carrier bag. 5. My dressing table It has become a dumping ground for anything I need off the floor and away from the baby. Everything needs a home pronto. 6. Little E's artwork You know this story. Each week a carrier bag comes home from nursery full of print stick and felt tip pen masterpieces created by my eldest. These carrier bags get filed all around the house in cautious cupboards and drawers and any crevice roughly A4 shaped. I bought memory boxes last year to keep the best examples in. 7. Find memory boxes See number 6. 8. Fill in Little I's baby book. Little I is now 1. The last entry in the baby book was 5 months ago. Enough said. 9. Set up Facebook page for my blog Now this is something I wanted to do in January but I have been putting off until I have more time to focus on it. Let's face it I am never going to have more time so I may as well just do it! 10. Book a spa day with Husband. I promised this for his birthday present. In February. Time to get it in the diary and have a bit of time together. So there you have it. 10 things which keep getting pushed down the to do list but I really need to focus on ticking off. What's on your list? Linking up to #10things at acornishmum.com Little I is not and used to find the magnum box empty... ...Little E unsuccessfully tries to look innocent. Linking up to #wickedwednesday with brummymummyof2 #sharewith me at letstalkmommy and #MMWBH at superbusymum I am sitting here, perched on the edge of Little E's bed at 8:49pm. She is still not asleep. She is 4yrs old but yet I still need to sit here, sometimes for up to 2hrs to get her to fall asleep. It is a roulette. Some nights she is fast asleep within half an hour. Some nights I almost have to snake charm her to sleep. Husband and I regularly eat dinner post 9pm because of this rigmarole. In fact 2 pies are burning in the oven right now because I am sitting here. She has never been easy to put to sleep. We are taking lullabies and crawling out of the room on all fours. I used to feel pride when I finally got her to sleep but now it is despair. Surely by now she should be able to go to sleep without me losing my whole evening! What an I doing wrong? Seriously, does everyone do this? Linking up to #maternitymondays at becomingastayathomemum.co.uk Spring has arrived! It's poncho weather for Little E this week. Linking up to #magicmoments at theoliversmadhouse.co.uk #whatsthestory at podcastdove.com #mysundayphoto at onedad3girls.com Easter is approaching and our crafting is beginning to take on some distinct egg/bunny theming. The latest has been these Easter puppet kits from Baker Ross. Perfect for lazy crafting days as it does not require glue - Hurrah! cry mums up bad down the country. There are 4 puppets to make in the kit, 2 bunny designs and 2 chicks. There is a paper cup, foam stickers and a stick. To create the character you simply sandwich the stick between the front and back of the character sticker then pop on some googly eyes. The cups are easily decorated with the fun stickers... Then all you need to do is pop the character sticks through the predrilles hole in the bottom of the cup and you have your very own Easter puppet! Little E loved making these and they look super effective. They are great value currently on sae for just £1.99 for a pack of 4! (Usual price £3.96) Buy now at http://www.bakerross.co.uk/chick-bunny-pop-up-puppet-kits We are part of the Baker Ross blogger network but all opinions are our own.
