Sugar has become a real problem in our modern diet. The average person consumes around 140 teaspoons a week of the sweet stuff. And it isn't just about how much we spoon into our tea, so much of our sugar consumption is hidden in the foods we buy from cereals to ready meals. Here are some top tips to help you easily curb your sugar intake without too much hassle.
While the committed cook in you might yearn for a brand new kitchen with every new appliance under the sun, installing one that has been professionally supplied is an expensive undertaking, not to mention time consuming and quite disruptive to the household. Instead, why not stick to your budget and get creative about ways to refresh rather than replace what you already have. Here are a few ideas to help you do just that.
Sorry things have been rather quiet over here this week. We have finally sold our house which has knocked me completely off course! I'll rewind and fill you in on the journey so far...
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...
You can bring the creative force into your life with my fantastic Star Wars Aquabeads competition! Little E proving she is not so little anymore as she traverses the Go Ape course alone. She bloody loved it and boy was she speedy!
People often tell me my music taste is eclectic and I agree because I really do like a bit of everything! I love the shuffle setting on my ipod, you take it for granted but things have moved on a bit since my 1980's Walkman days when the best thing ever was the auto-rewind, and it is great to be surprised with a track from your collection you haven't heard for ages.
Having the kids means I spend more time listening to the theme tune from Balamory than my own tracks, so I have decided to start a blog series cataloguing my favourite tunes to re-awaken my music soul. There are songs which remind me of music my parents used to play when I was growing up, boy bands I loved as a teenager, club tunes I danced to in my twenties and everything in between. Here's the first 10 in no particular order - I hope you find some gems in there which will become your favourites too!
When Selena Cole vanishes, apparently abandoning her children in the park, the police and her family fear for her safety. But when Selena appears 20hours later safe but with no memory of what happened during those lost hours suspicions being to stir. And the discovery of a dead body nearby raises even more questions. Is Selina's amnesia genuine or a clever deception?
Regular readers of my blog will know I am a big Emma Kavanagh fan. I first reviewed her debut novel Falling back in 2014 and Emma has also writtenguest posts for my blog as part of her book launch tours. So this book had big shoes to fill...
We all know birthdays are one of the most exciting times in a child’s life (us adults too!) but helping them understand how far away their birthday is can be a tricky task for parents of small children. We use the 'how may sleeps until my birthday?' method in our house and the Sleepzzz Until Birthday Buddy is a great compliment to this idea. It can help control their patience and help them understand the passing of time while having lots of fun anticipating their big day!
