I announced a few weeks back that we are moving house! We are all very excited and I've been thinking a lot about the how we decorate the kid's bedrooms especially Little I's new room as she will have the loft room. Here are some of my ideas for making the loft room the perfect space for kids bedrooms! Headroom is often at a premium in an attic so tuck the beds into the eaves to maximise the floor space at full height. Beds which sit low to the floor work best. You can build them into the wall or simply place freestanding beds as far back as possible. Kid's often need blackout blinds which can be tricky for loft windows which are often in the sloping roof. But luckily there is a wonderful range of VELUX blinds for children which come in blackout fabric featuring your favourite Disney characters. They fit perfectly so guarantee to keep little ones tucked up well past dawn. Kid's need loads of storage for clothes, toy and books. Make the storage work for your loft by building it into the room rather than trying to fit conventional furniture which just won't sit right with the sloping ceilings and unusual angles. If you have a feature window make the most of the view by creating a window seat. You can build in storage underneath to make it practical and dress it up with fun cushions to suit the theme of the room. If you feel like going one step further you can let your imagination go wild and create some super fun spaces for your kids. A climbing wall up the eaves, hammock beds, bold feature walls and high rise beds are just the beginning. Let us know if you have created something unique in your loft!

What fun ideas! I love the use of space as loft rooms often have low ceilings. When I was young I would have loved a bed high in the roof with a ladder to access it.

Fab suggestions. It's a great way to create more space when an extension is just not possible.

Oh how I would love a window seat. I can imagine curling up with a good book and forgetting about the world around me

These are amazing ideas! We have considered a roof conversion but my partner think our roof is too shallow so I guess we'll be moving in a couple of years :(
