Spring wreath making

28/4/2014

We had a go at another Baker Ross kit this week, this time the Daffodil Wreath Kit.

Picture

I admit we are a little behind the season with this one as the daffodils in our garden are well and truly dead but Little E didn't mind. The flowers have self adhesive backs so everything was going really well and easy for her to do alone until we tried to stick the curly orange trumpets on. You have to roll up the long orange foam pieces and somehow stick them onto the wreath. Easier said than done. They just wouldn't stay curled up and kept springing off our wreath.

Needless to say we both got rather frustrated (plus we were covered in glue) so after a valiant attempt we ditched them and rooted around in our craft box until we found some sticky flowers and gems left over from another Baker Ross project and Little E used them to decorate the wreath. I think it turned out rather well and Little E thinks it is even better than the original design because it has pink on it...

Foam craft kits such as this wreath can be bought online from children's craft suppliers www.BakerRoss.co.uk

We were sent this kit as part of the Baker Ross blogger network but all opinions are our own.

Craft, glue dots may have worked for your centres but I think your adapted personal touches look way prettier anyway #letkidsbekids

It's a shame that the original trumpets didn't work out but your adaptations look so much better! #letkidsbekids

I love your finished wreath, very pretty! It can often be good to go a little different to what was intended.

This is exactly the sort of thing Carson enjoys to do. He wants arts and crafts - all the time!

Sometimes the original idea is just meant to be adapted to make it even better (at least that's my approach anyway!) the finished wreath looks great.

Aww this looks lovely, I can imagine how frustrating those trumpet bits must have been! Looks better with the sparkly gems anyway I think :) Thanks for linking with and supporting the #creativechallenge

This is really pretty - the flowers added look really good and I think look better than the trumpets. Beautiful #minicreation
