Review: STABILO EASYoriginal Pen & EASYgraph Pencil for Early Writers

7/3/2017

Little E has just turned 6 and up until now her school have really focused on learning to read but since Christmas I have seen a shift with much more emphasis on writing. Little E has always loved to draw but she is less inclined to write. Apparently it is hard work! I was intrigued to find that STABILO make a range of children's pens to help them write correctly.

We were sent the STABILO EASYoriginal pens and the EASYgraph pencils. Little E is right handed but these pens and pencils come in both left and right handed versions so you can get the version perfectly suited to your child. They are teacher recommended too.
Both are cleverly designed so that your child can hold them comfortably in the correct position. The pen is a  refillable rollerball and comes with blue ink (you can buy black and red refills). The ink is also erasable. The pen has indented areas for the fingers and thumb so your child is guided to the correct pen position.

Little E picked up the pen and immediately held it correctly. The indentations make it virtually impossible not to hold the pend correctly and they are non slip so they don't slide down and get their fingers all inky! The ink flows really smoothly allowing her to write neatly, without smudging. It also made her  really interested in writing because she has a special 'big girls pen' which is only for her and her sister isn't allowed (always a winner!). I think we'll keep it for homework so the novelty doesn't wear off!

Little I tried out the EASYgraph pencil which is designed for children 5yrs+ so she is a little bit young for it at the moment but she was very excited to have a special pencil. Again this comes in left or right hand versions with a triangular shape and no-slip grip moulds to help with finger positioning. I was very surprised to see how well she held the pencil, her fingers happily relaxed in the grips making her 'froggy fingers' as she calls them!

The STABLIO EASYoriginal pen retails from £6.70 and the STABLIO EASYgraph pencils are £2.99 for 2. Both can be purchased directly from STABLIO

My son is only 3 but he is showing an interest in writing numbers at the moment, only problem is he is struggling to remember each time how to hold his pen/pencil. I know he is young still but I think some of these would really help him. Kate x #triedtested
