I have a couple of phobias. Nothing major, just the usual stuff like spiders (common), sand (maybe not as common) and Play Doh (?!?). I know it probably seems odd but I think it stems back to an incident from my youth involving smooshed play doh and a rug... Needless to say those little yellow tubs have not crossed the threshold of our home, until now. For Christmas Little E received not one but two Play Doh kits. She has obsessively asked to play with them since. For over a week I held out but at the weekend I could deny her no longer. I cleared the decks, covered the chair with an old towel and let her have free reign with the Disney Ariel Play Doh kit. All seemed to be going well. For 45 minutes there was not a peep from her! I was impressed with the power of the doh. But then she started to get fidgety and I realised it was time to pack up. On closer inspection I got a shock - the stuff was everywhere! Literally hundreds of tiny shards of luminous pink putty all over the tiled kitchen floor. Little E was instructed to sit very still whilst I grabbed the Hoover and attempted clear the floor before her little feet deposited the shards across the rest of the (carpeted) house. She looked a little puzzled by my reaction but we survived without any upholstery squidging! I think I coped well for my first exposure but I need more practise so I will let her play with it again (after all we have an unopened Mr Potato Head kit) but l'll have the Hoover closer to hand!

My son loves his playdough gifts he got for xmas but my poor carpet not so much. I have a hand held small hoover thingy now!! Best invention ever!! We dont have much tiled floor space in our home but I hate his lil face when I suggest a different craft so have playdough out every week. Anxiety overload haha!!

The thought of mixing the Play Doh colours up has made my toes curl up! Oh dear, I'm going to need a lot more exposure than I thought...

Oh bless you, well done for at least attempting to get over the phobia! I can cope with it to a point - in the conservatory, on the tiled floor, it is not allowed in the rest of the house and I do hate it when it gets smushed into socks and trousers, makes me really cross! Well done for pushing yourself to do it though! Hope the Mr Potato Head play went well too! Thanks so much for linking up to #creativechallenge xx
