We have recently moved house and there is a lot of decorating to do. I mean every room and we are talking major redecoration, not just a lick of paint. But this is our forever home so we have the rest of our lives to sort it out! This weekend I decided the first thing I had to do while Husband was upstairs stripping wallpaper was paint the walls in the dining room. They appeared cream at first glance but upon further investigation were snot green. Thank goodness for big tubs of white trade paint! The girls helped me paint the walls, skirting and coving. We'll ignore the textured paper for now but is looks far less offensive white! We've chosen new sparkly wall lights to replace the ugly green fixtures up there now and got some neutral grey bookcases from Argos which are cheap and cheerful and do the job for now. Little tip - If you are displaying photos and trinkets on the bookshelves leave the backs off the shelving unit to stop them being enclosed and dark. We just need a new table and chairs now as these have lasted about 12 years and are looking exceptionally tired! It is so exciting putting our own stamp on the house! After the girls rooms are done we can start on the spare bedroom which they are currently camping out in.

I have to say your dining room looks great. White is so fresh and I'd never thought to leave the backs off shelves when using them to display photo frames. That's a great tip and I'll be keeping it in mind for when we buy our next house x

That's a great tip about leaving the backs of the book cases, and your room looks great. I am not sure I would be brave enough to let my three help though!
