Remember those hectic, crazy busy days of summer? They seem like a lifetime ago!  Now that Autumn is in full swing, you might have thought that the days would go a little slower, and your schedule and to-do list might not be as long as it once was…but many of us find ourselves dashing around even more then we were before. The school run, birthday parties, school events, parent’s evenings, not to mention everyday tasks that need completing – will we ever catch a break before Christmas?
If this sounds a little too familiar, then don’t worry. Now is the time to forget about that to-do list and set aside some time for you. Giving your body and mind a little TLC is needed more often then you think; sure you could treat yourself to the best designer bags your favourite department store has to offer, but what about something a little more budget friendly?

Struggling for inspiration? Read on for 5 ways of treating your body and mind this season.

Take a nap

A nap? What’s one of those? I hear you cry! It might sound a little out of touch, especially if you have little ones running around, but you know what they say: when the baby sleeps – you sleep. So as soon as they’re settled, slip back into bed and rest your body. Even if you’re struggling to switch off, just resting your body for a good hour will leave you feeling energised. So go on, leave the washing up for later.

Head outdoors

Spending time in nature has been scientifically proven to lower your blood pressure and heart rate. There’s something about nature that really speaks to all of us. So, head out to local parks, forests, lakes or even a walk along beach. Take a flask of something warm to enjoy when you reach a good lookout.

New stationery

This one might not be your cup of tea, but if the idea of new stationery or new notepads fills you with excitement then why not treat yourself to some new pads and a pen or two. Take this opportunity to write down your feelings, things you want to achieve, a compliment you received today or even a good story.

Make your world a little cosier

During the colder months of the year we’re all spending more time indoors, so why not make your world a little cosier? A new throw, or new cushions on the sofa. Or treat yourself to some new bedding and linen. We all love slipping into fresh sheets after a long day!

Take long soak

It might seem a little obvious, but a long hot bath, soaking away all your troubles is always time well spent. Take this time to catch up on that bestseller you never got round to finishing, light a scented candle, listen to a thought provoking podcast or just exfoliate and buff your skin so by the time the water is lukewarm, you feel like a new person. Go on, treat yourself

As hard as it can be to switch off, taking a little nap where you can really does help a lot. I agree with getting outdoors too - just a little walk can do you the world of good.

It's so true! I love it when I get a rare chance to nap and also find that making my hoe cosy is the perfect way to look after my mind :)

Autumn is definitely the time to slow down and reserve energy for the busy time ahead that is Christmas. Naps are so beneficial if you are even able to take a 5 minute power nap that's better than nothing! Easier said than done I know...

These are definitely treats that I wish I had more time for! It’s hard to slow down, but it is important to make sure we don’t forget about ourselves in all the chaos.

Honestly since having my second child I’ve realised the importance of me time. Even something as simple as taking a long soak like you said makes all the difference. Amazing post hun x

You've got some great tips here. I'm going to try and head outdoors more over Autumn/Winter.
