How to Deal with the Birthday Season

How to deal with the Birthday Season blog post title with picture of a present and birthday cake behind
Spring can be a busy season. At the end of this month, we celebrate Mother’s Day. Then comes Father’s Day in May. And in between these dates Easter will occur and of course that means the kids are off school for two weeks.

What’s more, this time of year seems to be filled with birthdays. For me February is the start of the manic birthday season and with two kids at school children’s parties are often a regular feature, especially as the weather warms up. So, how can we prepare and keep on top of all these celebrations? Here are some suggestions to help you.

Birthday Calendar

You’ll no doubt already know the usefulness of calendars. But have you ever used one solely for birthdays? If not, you may want to. Better still, you could create a schedule that lists all special events. That way, important dates won’t lose second place to tasks in your regular diary. Save your subject-specific calendar to your phone, and you can install regular reminders before each occasion. And so, you’ll be able to plan for celebrations stress-free.

Delivery Plans

Do you usually order gifts online? If the answer is yes, why not create a delivery plan? In doing so, you could ensure that all presents arrive in time. Find a specialist service, and you’ll be able to dictate exactly when a product arrives. Brands like Parcel2Go, for example, can guarantee swift and secure delivery. They also offer to send fully-prepared gifts to the recipient. Select this option, and you can deal with special dates from the comfort of your own home, at your PC, laptop, or even your phone. This could be particularly beneficial if you have several people to buy for. And let’s face it, many people do during this often-hectic season.

Bulk Buy

This is my favourite hack which I learnt off my Mum while growing up. Buying in bulk can be very useful – especially if there are lots of events coming up - and helps save time, stress and money. You can prepare for kids’ parties, by stocking up on presents, gift wrap and card sets avoiding that last-minute panic shop before a gathering. I have a gift drawer where I store my stash of goodies. When a birthday or celebration is imminent, you can then just pick out an item from it for the honoured person.

Parties are designed the be fun – so why shouldn’t they be? Plan properly, and you can get through busy birthday and events periods easily. As a result, you’ll be able to get on with actually enjoying each festivity.

Some great tips here. All the birthdays for us seem to come in the first 3 months of the year which is a right pain after Christmas lol

I am a sucker for bulk buys, it saves me so much money and ensures you have the things you need whatever the occasion.

Buying in bulk is such a good tip. I like to pick things up throughout the year as they're reduced and stash them away for birthday season

Great tips. I’ve got so many birthdays over the next few weeks. Lots of cake though which is a bonus!

September and October are our 'birthday crazy' months ... it seems that everyone's falls in these months - including my own. I just make sure I have a relaxing end to the school summer hols, knowing that it'll be party season literally the day they start back (my daughter was born on Sept 8 ... usually 2 days after the term starts!)

We have Mother's Day in May and Father's Day in June. Easter break is only a week long here in the states so I guess we are kind of lucky in that regard. But I do understand the birthday season. For me, birthday season gets crazy right around the Fall and Winter holidays. Both of my boys were born that time of year, then two nephews, my sister, and a few others. It gets a bit crazy so I can completely relate. I really like the idea of the bulk buy. Saves time and money.

We're the opposite, our birthday season is October/November. Must be all those Valentines Day babies being born 9 months later, haha. I keep a big box with last minute gifts, so when we get a party invite I can just dip in to that.

Some great tips here, we have had trouble with a few parcel delivery services so it’s nice to know there’s another one we can try. Maybe it’ll be “the one”? I also bulk buy !
