Highs and Lows of 2017

Highs and Lows of 2017 title with firworks behind
Hello 2018! As the year drew to a close I found myself thinking a lot about how my 2017 panned out.  It was a super busy year for us and a pretty good one all in all. Thanks to Nina for nominating me to take part in Kate's Highs and Lows of 2017 blogger tag which helped me pin down the special moments (and the not so special). Here's the roundup of my year...
1. What was your happiest event?
My Sister in Law got married last year. We were all involved. The girls were Flower Girls, I was a Bridesmaid and Husband am Usher. It was a beautiful day and Little E lost her first tooth during the speeches! We'll never forget that!

2. What was the saddest thing to happen?
One my best friends has had an exceptionally tough 2017. Her being sad has made me sad.

3. What was the most unlikely thing to happen that actually went ahead and did?
We moved house! If you’d have told me 12mths ago I’d be moving in 2017 I would have laughed long and hard. But we did and it is the best thing to happen to our family.

4. Who let you down?
I don’t think anyone has let me down. Not in a major way. I learn a few years back that people who let you down aren’t worth the effort so I don't have those kind of people close to me.

5. Who supported you?
Husband. He’s been fantastic this year taking on the move pretty much single handed. Plus he was promoted at work himself which makes me very proud of him.

6. Tell us what you learned.
2017 was the year I saw a counselor regarding my chronic pain and resulting anxiety. I have learnt a lot about myself. Mainly that I put limits on myself without testing if I can or can’t do it. Basically I need to step out of my comfort zone more often and see how I go.

7. Tell us what made you laugh?
The kids make us laugh all the time. Especially the youngest who is at that magical age of being cheeky but funny at the same time.

8. Tell us the things that made you cry?
Buying a brand new car and not being able to drive it because of pain.

Leaving our old home. There were a few nostalgic tears that day!

And I’ll admit I’ve cried over the kids! They can drive me insane at times...

9. Tell us three things your child or children did to make you feel proud.

The eldest has tried so hard in school and her reading has come on leaps and bounds

The youngest dealt with moving home so well. She has an old head on young shoulders.

We were out to dinner one evening, just the 4 of us, and an older couple came over and told us how beautifully the kids had behaved and that they are a credit to us.

10. Tell us the things that made you proud of yourself.

Building my business. It just exploded in 2017 and I just about kept on top of it.

11. Tell us the challenges you overcame
Working on the kitchen table for a year was hellish. I am not sure how I did it but I did!

12. Tell us the things you would like to change about your life in 2018
I need to be stricter with my working hours especially when the kids get home from school so I have quality time with them.

What a lovely way to review the year! I hope this year sees less pain and anxiety. (I know that feeling, well!) for you.

This is such a clever post idea, I couldn't help but smile at the thought of the first tooth loss!

Your little one losing a tooth during the speeches is hilarious. Sounds like you've had a mostly good year and I hope your friend can be less sad soon.
