It has been all change in our house this week. Little E has been removed from the nursery and installed in her new big girl bedroom. Husband and I spent most of December getting it ready for her including a trip to Ikea which nearly resulted in divorce... We wanted to create a princess room which would grow with her rather than needing redecorating in two years time. Luckily the room is a decent size so we didn't have to be too inventive regarding storage and space but we loved the idea of Ikea extendable beds which you can extend as they get bigger. They start about the size of a cotbed then extend right up to a full size single using matress inserts. This gives Little E more floor space and saves is having to buy an inbetween bed. The devil is in the details they say and is true in this case. The room looked really cold and statk until we added the princess details such as the bed canopy, flying fairy and dolls houses. Then it transformed into a magic room complete with dress up wardrobe for her princess dresses and heels and inaccessible shelves for the special christening items and such like. The reception from Little E was fantastic. She immediately told us it was her room and that she is a big girl now. In fact we have been banished from the room unless invited. 2 going on 22! Now to start renovating the nursery... This post is part of the #PoCoLo weekly linky. Join in the fun at http://www.vevivos.com/2014/01/03/post-comment-love-newbie-showcase-3rd-5th-january-2014/

What a lovely job you've done! It looks really special for her and I'm sure will grow with her as you hope. We've almost finished doing up our girls' bedroom and I love seeing how much nicer it looks now. Maybe I should do a post on it's transformation too! Hope she's really happy in there. #PoCoLo

What a beautiful room! It looks fantastic. And I know what you mean about Ikea, it's great but it's been the venue for many silent rows! I found your blog on #PoCoLo

I wish it had been silent!!! But it was in the car park when we couldn't fit it all in the car (despite Husband ensuring me it would fit) so hopefully only a few people had to witness it!
