If you’re looking for somewhere to take the kids for short break away, Bognor Regis may not be your first choice. However, despite its not so glamorous reputation, the town actually has plenty of great family-friendly entertainment. It’s also known to be Britain’s sunniest town.

So, if you’re looking for a staycation idea that’s affordable, family-friendly and which gives you the best chance of enjoying a nice sunny getaway, Bognor Regis is definitely a town to consider. Here, you’ll discover how to enjoy a great staycation in the town on an affordable budget.

A town that rivals Brighton?

Bognor Regis may not be glamorous, but it’s certainly a great place to enjoy a family-friendly holiday. The town’s design as you see it today, is credited to Richard Hotham. The 18th century hatter worked his way into the House of Commons and decided to try to improve Bognor Regis so that it could rival Brighton.

He was successful to some degree, turning Bognor Regis into a popular family-friendly seaside getaway. However, he wasn’t successful in trying to change its name to Hothampton. Today, the town can definitely rival Brighton, it just doesn’t have the same level of reputation, meaning people often dismiss coming here.

Plenty of family-friendly entertainment

One thing Bognor Regis does have is plenty of nearby family-friendly entertainment. The most famous attraction in the town is Butlins. You don’t have to stay at Butlins to enjoy its offering of entertainment, however. Instead, you can simply visit for the day if you want to.

The beach is also worth visiting. It’s a long stretch of beach, and thanks to the sunny climate of the town, there’s a good chance you’ll get to kick back and soak up a little sun. Due to how large the beach is, even in busy tourist season, you should still be able to find a nice quiet spot to enjoy with the family.

If you’re staying in Bognor Regis for a week, you could also take a day trip to Chessington World of Adventures which is approximately an hour away. You could save on the cost of travel by investing in season train tickets. This will allow you to not only get to Bognor Regis cheaply, but it will also let you travel around while you’re there too.

Overall, Bognor Regis isn’t typically the first place you think of when it comes to enjoying a family-friendly staycation. However, the seaside town has so much to offer; particularly in the spring and summer months. It’s also a budget-friendly destination, enabling you to have a great time without spending a fortune. So, why not consider a staycation to Bognor Regis during the next half term?

This is a collaborative post.
