Easter Decoration Ideas

April kicks in tomorrow and all eyes are now firmly turned to Easter. Be it the Easter Sunday lunch table or as a home décor, decoration is an essential part of the Easter season.

Eggs are obviously a must as are colourful flowers. In addition to the classic early bloomers such as good old daffs, noble geraniums are perfect for floral Easter decorations. With their beautiful blooms and vibrant colours, these flowering beauties brighten up your home, long before the bedding and balcony plant season begins.

I've teamed up with the flower experts at Pelargonium for Europe show how to create magical Easter
decorations with noble geraniums, hen and quail eggs.

Classic Geranium Easter nest

A floral Easter nest is a fab feature for any home at Easter and it is super easy and fast to make.

Simply plant a wicker basket with geraniums and Necklace Vine and decorate it with a wreath of twigs. Then place some painted Easter eggs in the basket and decorate the arrangement with small feathers. Easy as that - done!

Macramé Egg and Geranium Mobile

For a spin on the traditional Easter decorations why not try a ceiling-mounted mobile with beautifully patterned quail eggs hanging next to decorative mini-nests and hen's eggs in different sizes. I can really see my kids having some Easter fun with this one!

Delicate macramé hangers hold extra-large eggs that, when filled with water, serve as mini-vases for colourful, cut geraniums. Fab idea! To make the fragile egg vases, either carefully remove the tops from raw eggs, drain the egg white and yolk and rinse the eggs, or remove the tops from boiled eggs, spoon the contents out and carefully clean them.

Tip: Quail eggs are naturally so varied and decoratively patterned that they need no further embellishment. The chicken eggs can be painted, covered or decorated as your heart desires.

Nature-inspired Easter table

I love decorating a table and nature offers so many options throughout the year.

For a very on-trend vintage look all you need to do is arrange different coloured geranium blooms and leaves and decoratively patterned little quail eggs on the table.

A big flowering geranium in the centre of the table and geranium stems used as 'mini bouquets' tied to a napkin at each place setting is a simple yet effective way to make a stunnign Easter table.

Tip: To keep the mini geranium bouquets fresher for longer by placing the stems in flower tubes filled with water.
