I was very lucky to be surprised this year with my very own advent calendar! It's been years since I had my own Christmas countdown and Husband knows I am trying to avoid chocolate so instead he opted for a beauty advent calendar. And because we are Amazon addicts (how else can you shop in lockdown???) he chose the Amazon Beauty calendar.
Over the past couple of years beauty and grooming advent calendars have flooded the markets with everything from bath bombs to male grooming versions. I was very intrigued to see what my Amazon Beauty Advent Calendar had in store each day leading up to Christmas Day. Let's take a look inside and see what surprises this £60 beauty advent calendar has in store...
Ta-da! Impressive huh! The Amazon Beauty Advent Calendar has 24 windows each containing a different product and with such a wide variety of beauty products on sale via Amazon you really have no idea what brands are going to appear each day (unless you read the Amazon listing before you bought it!!)
What really pleased me was that the contents included a real mix of beauty products and makeup - I don't wear a huge amount of make up so 24 new lipsticks really wouldn't have been the best gift for me. Also there was a mix between full size products and sample sizes so you get your moneys worth.
Let's break it down and look at the contents in more detail. (All the links below will take you to the product on Amazon. These are affiliate links which means if you go on to buy I get a small commission which goes towards the hosting costs of this blog.)
Face - Cleanser and Toner
Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm - This is a premium face balm and it has the price tag to match. At £40 for 100ml this little 15ml sample size is worth around £6. It can be used to remove makeup while hydrating and moisturising the skin. Buy here.
Philosopy Purity Cleanser - This was another sample size, this time 30ml. A 90ml bottle is £10 so you get about £3.30 worth here. I had never heard of it but apparently it is the #1 cleanser in America! It's also a 3in1 so technically you don't need to toner after using it. Handy. Buy here.
Elemis Soothing Apricot Toner - This was the first product from my calendar and it being Elemis set a high bar for the rest of the calendar! I love the smell of this apricot toner and it is very gentle so perfect for all skin types. I got a full size 50ml bottle worth around £7. Buy here.
Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Liquid Glow Extreme - I love the Nip+Fab range so super excited to find a full size 100ml bottle of toner worth £22 in my calendar! Now as the name suggests this is a much more extreme toner. My face when bright red after using it but I've done my research and this is very common so I recommend you only use it before bed. Buy here.
Face - Eye Cream
Wunder Lift 60 Second Wrinkle Reducer - When this full out of my calendar I thought Christmas had come early! A product to banish my wrinkles and crows feet! Hooray! My joy was short lived. I decided to test the cream out and applied around one eye only. Then asked my Husband and kids to tell me which side it was on. They all chose the wrong side!!! This is a full size 100ml product worth £19.95. Buy here.
AHC Essential Real Eye Cream for Face - Errr... not sure where else they expect you to use eye cream if not on the face! This is Korean beauty brand and I really like this eye cream - it smells lovely. I can't find this exact one on the Amazon website but this 10ml sample is worth around £10. Buy here.
Face - Masks
Boire Witch Hazel Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips - Is there anything more satisfying (and gross) than seeing the gunk left behind on a pore strip? These work really well. The pack of 4 is worth £5.99. Buy here.
Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb Eye Tissue Mask - Pop this bad boy in the fridge then apply to under your eyes for 15mins to reduce bags and brighten your contours. Just what was needed during home schooling (along with gin). This single use pair of patches is worth £2.99. Buy here.
