Very quiet on the blog the last few weeks. In fact tumble weeds are blowing through. Little I has been very poorly with bronchitis. We've not had much sleep and she's been feeling a bit sorry for herself. She has been extremely cuddly though which I have enjoyed as she prefers her own space usually and rarely relaxes on me. She has now officially been out longer than she was in which is astounding. She is becoming a real little personality. Very strong willed! Her teeth have really changed her face and now she has all 4 front teeth she looks like a toddler rather than a baby. She comes to find me wherever I am and is enjoying surfing the kitchen floor and exploring under the table. She is also working on standing up. She can pull herself up to her knees now but does have a tendency to topple over! She'll be on her feet by next week I reckon.

A little late with this week's update. I'm still reeling from the shock that my baby is 9months old! How did that happen!?!?!? On her 9mth birthday Little I decided to crawl. Proper knee crawling. No commando crawling for her which is no big surprise as she hates tummy time. She is still quite slow but she's getting the hang of it. Life will never be the same again now she can follow us (or escape us!). She is now working on pulling herself up and can make it up onto her knees. 3 new teeth have joined the party making for a snotty, red cheeked, unsettled baby. She is sleeping ok surprisingly but crying out a lot at night. It was destiny that she would cut 3 teeth this week as it is National Teething Week! We attended a lovely event to celebrate the launch of the week and learnt lots of facts about teething from a wholistic dentist. Here are some of them and you can find out more at nationalteethingweek.co.uk Linking up with #babys1styear themumingtonpost.com #MMWBH at superbusymum.net #sharewithme at letstalkmommy.com #brilliantblogposts with honestmum.com and #babybabble at carsonsmummy.blogspot.co.uk Playing together now and loving being sisters. Little I is always looking for Little E and desperately wants to be wherever she is. Big sister adoration has begun! Or my sister may be persistent, climb into my cot and stick a cuddly monkey in my face.... Linking up with #wickedwednesdays over at brummymummyof2.co.uk This week Little I has been very inquisitive and cheeky. Still not crawling but hauling herself about with a combination of bum shuffling and rolling. She has found the DVD player and is constantly trying to push all the buttons. Life will never be the same again... Another new trick is standing up at the sofa. She can't move yet but it won't be long before she is cruising. Despite being a bit grumpy as tooth #2 starts to bother her she has been very smiley. We have been on lots of school tours this week and she has kept been amusing all the other mums and dads with her smile. I have been feeling under the weather so there has been lots of family time watching movies snuggled up on the sofa. Little I is not very cuddly and is continually trying to escape me and her big sis! For the past 3mths we have been weaning Little I. She adores food and is never happier than when in her highchair eating! Chicco sent us their fun Pocket Lunch highchair to review and we have certainly put it through it's paces. The highchair is very easy to assemble, it pretty much comes out of the box ready to go. We have the lime green design with orange accents. It is a really fun, bright design. The frame of the highchair is white with a large adjustable and removable white tray. Perfect if you are baby led weaning as they like a lot of space to make a big mess... There is also an adjustable foot rest for tired little feet (and to avoid swinging legs!). The seat pad is very padded and comfy but a bit wide for Little I in the very beginning. She could have done with an insert to keep her stabilised but considering the RRP of this highchair is a mere £59.99, I wouldn't expect features like an insert for the value price. The seat cover is washable which is amazing as we all know what a mucky business baby weaning is! It is ridiculous easy to collapse and store. You literally push a button and push the top half forward (with the tray attached!) and it simply closes up and folds in half. It stands up by itself when folded so you can pop it in a corner or carry it via the handle and plonk it in the car to take to Grandma's. My favourite feature is the large basket underneath. I never have anywhere to put bibs so they end up scattered all over the kitchen. The basket is a godsend. They are always there on hand and I can chuck a pack of wipes in there too for cleaning up mucky faces. The legs open up wide at the bottom providing a low centre of gravity to keep it stable. This is essential with a big sister climbing up the back of the highchair... Despite the wide leg base I have not tripped over the legs once. I think it is because the footprint of the highchair is similar to the seat and tray area so you are always spatially aware of it. The bright orange feet are a clever visual reminder too. The only issue we have with the highchair is the angle of the back rest. It reclines which is great if baby falls asleep (this has never happened with my girls but I am aware some babies do have a post lunch snooze!) but the angle doesn't quite go far enough upright. So Little I is sitting slightly reclined all the time. Due to her reflux condition she needs to sit very upright so it isn't the best angle for her. Overall we really like this highchair. Due to it's easy fold mechanism and low price it would be a great highchair to keep at the grandparents or to take on holiday. If you are looking for a highchair for home and are on a limited budget or have limited space this is the highchair for you. If you have a few more pennies to play around with check out the Chicco Polly 2in1 highchair which is very similar but has a some special extras such as an insert for when then are small and 7 adjustable heights. I positively detest it and as a result it has not darkened my kitchen since... well, possibly never. I was surfing the Cow & Gate 5 step weaning website (we are trialling the programme, review coming up next week) and I spotted a cauliflower cheese recipe. It occurred to me that I really should not be limiting the girls palette based on my dislikes. Cue a trip out to buy a cauliflower. The recipe is super easy. So easy in fact I was kicking myself for not making it before. I scaled it up to use the whole cauliflower (I couldn't bear the thought of it lurking in my fridge) and it made 8 generous meals for 9mth old Little I. It did look revolting but most baby food looks unappetising so I figured the baby was the real judge of it. I certainly wasn't going to try it. Thank god they invented heat indicator spoons... Guess what. She loved it. In fact she ate so much of it I was a little concerned! Little E refused to try it, proving my point that I need to make sure I offer the girls as much variety as possible, even if I don't like something myself. Husband is super excited as he loves cauliflower cheese with his roast and after this experiment he may get some now and then. You can find the recipe on the Cow & Gate website here. While you are there you can sign up for the 5 step weaning programme and keep a record of your child's first tastes, likes and dislikes. Or just browse the scrummy recipes for inspiration! The Chicco range is extensive and focuses on it's products growing with your baby from birth to 3yrs. New products in the range include new colours for the ingenious and incredibly good value Next 2 Me cot and a new portable crib the LullaGo which can be easily folded down so you can take your baby's nest anywhere. I love these two products and wish we had known about the Next 2 Me crib before Little I was born as we would have purchased it instead of our wooden bedside crib. It is even adjustable so baby can lie on an incline - perfect for refluxy babies like Little I. The new colour Summer and Winter edition packs for the Urban did not disappoint. The Summer edition has a part removable leg cover revealing a mesh to facilitate ventilation and a revealable mesh window in the hood. Perfect when you want to keep the sun off baby but allow airflow through the pram. The Winter edition has extra padding in the seat reducer and leg cover plus an AMAZING feature - hand warming pads for either mum or baby! This is beyond exciting, possibly the best thing I have ever seen on a pram. While I was salivating over hand warmers, Little E was decimating the buffet. It continued the Summer and Winter theme with delicious canapés and cocktails. She preferred the summer side, in particular the quails eggs. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted fab. I may have tried a few too purely for research purposes.. Now for the toys! Chicco toys really are amazing. The Baby Senses line for the little ones focuses on their development with different toys to stimulate different senses. For bigger kids the Fit & Fun range helps their motor development and social play. The Fishing Island and Goal League in particular are great fun and got the thumbs up from Little E. Both of the girls were particularly drawn to the Musical Tales Singing Bear; a big soft teddy bear who talks with a moving mouth. He tells stories of his adventures through songs, phrases and sounds and children can interact with him by pressing his hands and feet. Little E loved the stories and Little I liked playing with (eating) the story cards! The girls had so much fun and Little E didn't want to leave. Her quote of the day: 'I want to stay here forever!' Other highlights included the new 123 Activity Centre which grows with your baby from a baby walker, to first steps to a little bike. Great value as you get such longevity from the product. The Twist armchair which can be an armchair, chaise longue or a little day bed. I so wish we had bought one of these when Litte E was small instead of the useless beanbag chair we have. And the new Close to You baby carrier which allows you to carry baby on your back like a backpack up to 15kgs! That is roughly a 3yr old! The back support looked fantastic. Oh and the range of Boppy feeding pillows and the Hoopla baby chair... Honestly I could go on and on! We had a great afternoon and it was fantastic to meet the people at Chicco and HROC. Little E has not stopped talking about the bear so I think it'll be in her Christmas stocking this year! Coming up between now and Christmas I will be featuring reviews of the Pocket Lunch highchair, Echo stroller and Oasys 2.3 car seat all from Chicco so keep your eyes peeled! I am part of the Chicco Tested for Happiness blogger programme but all opinions are my own. What's happening? with redrosemummy.com and #pocolo at vevivos.com Super happy baby! Little I has been lovely and smiley now her tooth is fully through. She made the cutest Halloween monkey but was somewhat bemused during the trick or treating. Little E insisted we collect sweeties for her then ate them all herself! She still isn't crawling properly but she is desperate! Maybe next week... Husband and I went away for the weekend and came back to see a little bottom tooth peeking out of Little I's gum. She has been incredibly dribbly so we were keeping an eye out for it but it surprised us by making a stealth appearance whilst we were away. Little E cut her first tooth around this time so she is following in her Big Sis' footsteps! We have been following the Cow & Gate 5 step weaning programme and have discovered lots of new tastes this week including advocado (so, so) and cauliflower (big thumbs up). But the winner is definitely toast. She can't get enough of it, esspecially with cheese on top. Singing is a new pastime. If you sing she joins in with her baby babbling. She even copies hand and arm movements. We are a hairs breath from waving and clapping. Little E is loving helping out and regularly 'takes charge' administering Little I's bottle. She can nearly hold it herself now and just needs a little bit of help keeping it upright.
