A couple of weeks ago I posted a picture of our garden border which was under attack from a colony of weeds. I vowed to post a picture the following week of the border cleared. It didn't happen. In my defense the bank holiday Monday we had set aside for the task was a wash out. So we did a take 2 this weekend and attacked the border. Not only were the weeds settling in nicely but a tree was growing and a bramble patch. Two hours and a lot of thorns through gardening gloves later and it was looking so much better! Here is the after shot: Turns out the little bushes were actually alive under all the long grass and weeds. The rose bush in the middle has lots of buds on so I was reluctant to prune it, but I will cut it right back in the Autumn as it has got rather ugly. We also made a start on another garden project which I will fill you in on next week... I've really improved generally and I'm definitely not eating as many snacks but ice cream has broken me. I've had 2 Magnums and half a tub of the new Ben & Jerry's Greek style frozen yogurt. Plus a Chinese takeaway and a special meal for my Brother's 30th which involved non diet friendly wine. So I was expecting to gain but I am happy to report I have lost 0.3kg which is about 0.5lb. I'll take that after the week I've had! Obviously being better when I'm at home is helping. I haven't been listening to the Slimpod regularly but this week I plan to listen every night before bed. Overall weightloss: 1.7kg (3.7lb) Linking up to #healthhop with pinkoddy.co.uk D is for dreams... Do you ever watch your baby sleeping peacefully and wonder what they are dreaming about? Boobies? Thumb sucking? Tugging hair? Finally getting that cuddly monkey which hangs from the playmat? Or are they back in the womb listening to our heartbeat from the inside as they float all snuggled up and warm? Separation anxiety has hit and she has begun crying and getting quite ditressed when I leave the room. It is incredibly sweet but also rather frustrating as she wants to be held by me all the time. We went to a family party at the weekend (where she wore a beautiful pink Next party dress) but she got very upset when anyone held her. Little E was never like this so it is all new. She continues to exercise on the playmat and she is nearly there with rolling. She gets her leg over but her bottom shoulder gets in the way so she can't flip completely onto her tummy. She rolls onto her side then back onto her back and ends up all over the playmat! Because she is on the move we have had to put the 4th side onto the bedside co-sleeper cot. She is still next to me but now she is completely enclosed in her cot. I miss having her lying directly next to me but I am sleeping better knowing she won't roll into me. Her grasp is also coming along and she is grabbing for toys and shaking them about now. She loves holding fabric and will cling onto her blankets and muslins. She also really enjoys watching TV and insisted on staying up to watch the Diana movie with me and my girlies at the weekend. It was the worst movie we have ever watched but Little I lasted for over an hour. Clearly the dialogue was more fascinating in baby speak. The Doctor has suggested going back on the Gaviscon as she thinks her snuffly nose is linked to reflux. She seems to be sleeping better since we started it so hopefully it is helping her. She is hardly ever sick anymore so I was surprised that she thinks it is reflux not allergies but I guess time will tell. This mirror shot is one of my favourite of the week because I have a similar one of Little E (although she is a few weeks older). It is so sweet when they babble to themselves in the mirror! You can see in the two photos how similar they are, especially the hair. Little I is far chubbier though. Everyone wants to squeeze her hamster cheeks! Linking up to #sharewithme letstalkmommy.com at #brilliantblogposts honestmum.com at and #babybabble at carsonsmummy.blogspot.co.uk/ We have been planning Little I's baptism this week so I thought I would share the photographs taken at Little E's baptism nearly 3yrs ago. Our Vicar was slightly militant about photography during the service and we were only allowed one photograph to be taken at the font. One photo! I delegated the task to my Uncle Stu who was more than a little nervous but captured this fab shot of Little E looking down into the font, with water just visible, glistening on her forehead. Little I's baptism is booked for August at the same church. It is where Husband and I were married 6yrs ago so we feel a special connection when we are there. There is a new vicar so Uncle Stu may get to take a few more photos this time round. Linking up to #whatsthestory at podcastdove.com and #magicmoments at theoliversmadhouse.co.uk What do you get the man who has everything and needs nothing? That is the eternal dilemma I face each Father's Day. My Dad is a man of few possessions and he doesn't hold much value to 'stuff'. Not only do I give myself a headache looking for a unique, thoughtful gift for him I also have to find one for Husband from the girls and Father-in-law. Here are a few things I have found which I think would make excellent, unusual gifts this Father's Day. Chef Dad Has your Dad been watching a bit too much Masterchef and thinks he's John Torode in the kitchen? These fab colourful Kuhn Rikon all in one spatula knives will help him look the part. They have a super sharp blade one side for chopping veggies, herbs, fruit and more and a dull spatula edge on the other so you can scrape or scoop your food straight to pan or plate. They come with silicone blade guards to help avoid injuries when not in use. Set of 2 Kuhn Rikon Cut, Scoop and Scrape knives (purple or green) £13.56 qvcuk.com Foodie Dad Or maybe your Dad prefers the eating to the cooking? If so the wonderful pates from Patchwork Pate have won over 80 taste awards and their Quiet Night In hamper makes the perfect present for Father's Day. The hamper contains pate, chutney, spelt crackers and a bottle of beer or cider. You can choose different varieties of each item to suit your Dad's palette. I love this idea because Husband hates beer so having the option to switch to cider is perfect. All the pates are delicious so choosing between them is a tough task! Quiet night in hamper from £15.60 patchwork-pate.co.uk Adrenaline Dad If your a Dad likes to get the adrenaline flowing why not book him a session at F1 simulation centre Let's Race! LifeProof phone cases are virtually indestructible. They are waterproof, snowproof, dirtproof and shockproof. Perfect for Dad's like mine whose phones get a rough ride. They would also make great presents for Dad's who enjoy gardening and skiing so they can enjoy their hobbies without worrying about their phones.
