Ah, Christmas. It’s a wonderful time of year, as long as you don’t look at your bank account. It’s hard to experience the same joy we felt as children during the festive season because there’s so much planning and spending to be done at this time of year. But Christmas doesn’t need to be a financial burden. Here’s how to save money during the festive season so that your budget feels bigger.
One of the wonderful elements of Autumn is the abundant squashes and pumpkins. Roasted to perfection these vegetables live and breathe warm, cosy nights wrapped up with furry slippers on. This Butternut Squash Hummus is the perfect accompaniment for Moroccan and Persian dishes or served as a starter or snack with fine crackers. For this recipe it is preferable to roast your squash for a deep, rich flavour.
Lest we forget...
It has been quite a few years since I properly picked up a paintbrush, but I received some shiny new paints for my birthday and when I sat down with blank paper before me a poppy instantly came to mind. Just a week left until the kids go back to school. It is a special one for us this year as Little E starts Junior School and Little I has her first day at school! Eeek! With 2 girls in the house there is only one place they want to get their school backpacks, water bottles and pencil cases - Smiggle! Here's some of my favourite Smiggle picks for the Back to School season.
These days, an increasing number of children spend most of their time indoors wired to technology. A lack of physical activity predisposes them to obesity-related health problems. Apart from being overweight, children develop weaker muscles and bones if they don’t exercise regularly, while chances of getting type-2 diabetes and high blood pressure increase as they grow older too.
School's out for Summer! Whoop whoop!
We've had a big brainstorm over the weekend and here's our list of all the fun activities we want to tick off our bucket list before the new school year starts in September (I've managed to sneak a few practical ones in too!)...
I've sat down this week and sorted out my Kindle. It was a long process but I now have proper 'read' and 'TBR' folders which makes my soul happy. I can now see all the fab books I have lined up ready to read and prioritised the titles I aim to read over the Summer.
We are in the middle of a heatwave, break out the sun cream! We put 4 of the best high factor sun creams through their paces on holiday this month to let you know which we recommend to protect your kids' delicate skin this summer.
