Last week I was challenged to feed my family of 4 for £50 for the week. I accepted the challenge but instead of going to a low cost supermarket like Lidl or Aldi I attempted to try the challenge using my usual Tesco home delivery service. For me food shopping is a chore I hate so having it delivered to my door (in fact right into my kitchen) is brilliant, plus i am able to keep track of how much I am spending rather than chucking it all in the basket and hoping for the best at the till.
So how did I do...

The kids are away over the Bank Holiday so Husband and I are making the most of it with multiple trips to the cinema and a cheeky cocktail!
This week’s meal plan is a little different because I’ve been challenged to try and feed my family for 4 for a week for £50. Sound impossible? Well it certain is a challenge for me but I'm going to give it a go this week and here's a run down of how I plan to do it...
Wow! Monday again! Hope you are having a great ban holiday in the sunshine. Last week's menu went really well and we actually stuck to it. This week I'm trying to run down the freezer so I'll be using up lots of leftovers. I'm getting a bit bored of repeating the same recipes so after the clear out I'm looking forward to trying some new dishes.
Here's this week's meal plan: I skipped last week's meal planning as I was super busy leading up to my Mum's wedding at the weekend. But tomorrow is May and I'm back on track aiming for a really healthy month leading up to our holiday in less than 4 weeks time!
Here's what we are eating this week... You may have noticed there hasn't been any Meal Planning posts over the past couple of weeks. This has been due to a mixture of the kid's school holidays, wedding prep for my Mum's upcoming wedding at the end of the month and a nasty case of tonsillitis (which hit right after the Easter Bank Holiday weekend). But with the kids deposited at school this morning and just two weeks until the big wedding I am firmly back on track. Here's what we are eating this week...
Despite the fact that I haven't braved the scales this morning, last week's meal plan went ok. We did substitute Friday night's dinner for a salad, but if you are gonna go off plan a salad is the way to go! This week leads up to the long Easter weekend. Which means a minefield of chocolate to negotiate. I'm hoping some careful planning will help keep the healthy eating on track. Here's what I have planned...
Despite March being the month we knuckle down to fit into our outfits for my Mum's wedding we still aren't doing very well! We stuck to last week's meal plan quite well but my Gran's 80th Birthday on Sunday scuppered things as did a cheeky spontaneous visit to Bella Italia on Sunday... But we are back on track this week and determined to stick to healthy eating 100%. Here's my meal plan for the week (all Slimming World friendly)
Well, last week's meal plan started well but a stomach bug put the brakes on our weekend plans and made Mother's Day a bit of a wash out. I'm still not feeling human but I've bravely planned this weeks menu to make sure we eat healthily after our illness.
After very successful meal planning last week, this week is shaping up to be a nightmare. Between us Husband and I are basically every night this week. This means I'll be eating with the kids or out - so it's a weird week to meal plan. Next week doesn't look great either but hopefully our schedule will calm down a bit towards the end of the month. Monday - Beef and vegetable casserole
Tuesday - Spag bol Wednesday - Roast chicken with sweet potato mash, yorkshires, stuffing and peas. Thursday - Leftover roast chicken risotto with red peppers and spring onions Friday - Prezzo with Mum (early Mother's Day dinner) Sat - Out for friend's birthday Sunday - Out for Mother's Day |
