We are very proud to be Chicco Tested for Happiness bloggers and last month we were sent their new Disney Princess Cinderella baby toys to take a look at. Little E was particularly excited as we saw the new Cinderella film at the cinema a few weeks back and ever since she has insisted on wearing blue... We received the Cinderella Dancing Spinner and Cinderella Dream Highchair Toy. Perfect for wannabe Prince and Princesses aged from 6mths. The dancing spinner features Cinderella in her ballgown and when baby presses Cinderella's head down the transparent balls spin creating a swirl of magical colours. Inside the balls are pictures of the mice and bird characters from the original Disney animated film. The highchair toy features a classic theme from the story - the pumpkin transforms into a carriage when you spin it accompanied by jiggling sounds. Hearts and crowns further add to the magic. All Chicco's products are created and designed in collaboration with Osservatotio Chicco, it's baby research centre where paediatricians and parents work together to study stimuli and provide insight to assist the learning and development of babies. The Disney Princesses range is designed to assist the development of early tactile and coordination skills. We were also sent some yummy fairytale cookies from the Cookie Collaboration to enjoy to celebrate the launch - Little E loved her Cinderella glass slipper cookie. She also ate the frog prince but she did let her Little Sister eat the wand! The new Chicco Disney Princess range is completed with a Snow White Magic Mirror and an interactive Snow Whit Cottage with lights and sounds. They sound fab, I love a magic mirror! The Bubabloon comes in it's own little carry pack (perfect for holidays) and it is essentially a deflated fabric ball. It is machine washable at 30 degrees and you can even pop it in the tumble dryer on low. My girls love balloons. Endless fun can be had from floating one around the front room, kicking about in the garden and of course, jumping on them to see who can make them pop. But I'm always wary of them. We weren't allowed balloons as children because my Dad was obsessed with the danger posed by them. And he was right; balloons cause more childhood deaths than any other toy. That's a scary fact. But before you rush to ban balloons from the house we were sent a novel new product to try out. The Bubabloon is a little balloon cover which makes standard balloons safe for play. Hooray! You pop a standard balloon inside the cover via the little hole at the end and inflate the usual way. You then tie of the balloon and push the knot inside the flap so it is not accessible. Easy peasy. You then have a balloon covered in thin lightweight fabric allowing the balloon as act, well balloon like, despite it being protected. If the balloon pops during play the bits of rubber are stored safely inside. You child also cannot pop the balloon with it's teeth or get hold of an old deflated balloon. All of which pose a choking hazard. So what did the kids think? They absolutely loved it and played with it just like a balloon or ball. Little E loved the cow design and took it outside to show the cows in our field. Little E was obsessed with rolling on it... we had some fun taking this photo - how many Bubaloons (and us!) can you spot?! Bubabloon covers start at £10.99 (The cow design we were sent costs £12.50). Little I has started to develop patchy ezcema recently. We aren't surprised as the same thing happened to her Big Sister at around this age. It seems to flare up in her creases - so the back of her neck, backs of her knees and at her elbow joint. It isn't severe but bad enough for us to want to do something to stop any irritation she is experiencing. You can see in the picture below the patch of eczema on Little I's neck. It is being aggravated where the collar on her clothes rub. I have been focusing on rubbing in the lotion after her bath to help protect the area when she sweats in the night. The lotion is quite thin making it easy to apply without getting cream on her clothes. Oliatum have put together some really useful comfort skin tips to help you manage your baby's dry skin conditions. TIP #1 What is your favourite tip? Mine is Tip 9 because I've always washed with non-bio products due to having sensitive skin myself - it really makes a difference! You can share your favourite comfort skin tips or one of your own unique skincare tips on Twitter using #OilatumComfortSkinTips. Bathtime can be a little boring as she can't have bubbles and sometimes she even reacts to the shampoo we use on her hair. It isn't really eczema, more a rash which irritates her but she does get the odd patch of eczema flare up on her back from time to time. Oilatum sent me this beautiful hamper containing their Daily Junior range plus a few little treats. Little E was super excited to try out the bath products (and bath toys!). The range consists of Bath foam, Head to Toe wash and Shampoo plus a Lotion for use after the bath. The super gentle soap free cleansers are perfect for Little E's sensitive skin plus they are gentle enough for Little I's new skin too. They foam up which is really cool as Little E is not usually allowed bubbles in her bath. I was very pleased to find a shampoo forming part of a sensitive skin range. After rinsing it all ends up in the bath water and can irritate the same way as bubble bath. The Oilatum Daily Junior Shampoo cleans hair really well without irritation so it gets a big thumbs up from me! I'll put my hands up and admit I usually only moisturise the kids when they get a patch of eczema or dry skin. The lotion really got me thinking about protecting the kids skin against dryness and the mild nature of this lotion makes it suitable for use every day. Bingo. So overall I am super impressed with the Oilatum Daily Junior range and I'll be using it from now on. You can find it in Boots or your local pharmacy and most large supermarkets priced £4.99 - £5.49. Find out more at oilatum.co.uk/daily Also I have to mention the amazing large White Company hydrocotton hooded towel we were sent in the hamper is fantastic for 1yr old Little I. I have looked everywhere for large hooded towels as they grow out of the little newborn hooded towels by about 6mths! This is unbelievably soft and amazing for sensitive skin. You can buy it here for £20. We were sent the products above for review but all opinions are our own. Linking up to #brilliantblogposts at honestmum.com #pocolo at vevivos.com #triedtested with goingonanadventure.co.uk and myfamilyfever.co.uk 3 weeks ago today Little I turned 1. I've not diarised since because I've not been sure how to continue the 'baby diary' because she isn't a baby anymore *weeps* I have toyed with stopping completely but I have enjoyed the past 52 weeks of posting and before that 20 weeks of pregnancy diary kept me sane when the medical establishment around me were acting crazy. So I think I'll continue but the name is going up have to change. After a lot of musing I've creatively come up with toddler diary (Sometimes simple is the way forward right?) aferall she is walking now! The past 3 weeks have been fun watching her find her feet and grow in confidence. Despite suffering an ear infection and being super grumpy for a week lots of changes have occurred. She has become addicted to ITNG (if you don't know what that is you obviously don't have children over 9mths or under 5yrs. Consider yourself lucky as it is beyond odd) She is now even more attached to cuddly toys and wanders about snuggling them to her neck... She loves sitting on a chair like a big girl. We regularly find her wiggling her bottom around on the Hello Kitty chair or chilling out on the beanbag. And there is a new sleeping pose: bum in the air has arrived! Linking up to #brilliantblogposts at honestmum.com #MMWBH at superbusymum.net and #sharewithme at letstalkmommy.com Little I is obsessed with food. If someone eats in front of her without sharing they better watch their back. We combination fed her in the beginning mixing traditional spoonled weaning with finger foods. Most of the food I made myself but I always have pouches and jars in the cupboard for when we go out or those 'the Tesco delivery in not coming until tomorrow and I only have half a celery stick in the fridge' moments. Cow and Gate sent across some of their new Friends range to try. The pouches we received are individual vegetable purées - perfect for first tastes. There are four veggies in the range: carrot, peas, cauliflower and broccoli and they are super smooth texture. On the pouches are the new Friends vegetable cartoon characters which are a lot of fun and they also appear on the website and advertising. Little I is obviously well past first taste stage but these little pouches have been excellent way of lacking some veggie punch into her meals. I've mixed the peas into homemade fish pie, made cauliflower cheese on toast and the carrot pouch really saved me when I cooked pasta only to find I had no tomato sauce or pesto left. Carrot pasta went down a treat with Little I and her big sister! Cow & Gate friends pouches are available from Tesco and Asda prived from 95p Linking up to #TastyTuesdays at honestmum.com #MMWBH at superbusymum.net and #triedtested at myfamilyfever.co.uk |
