Rock-a-Bye Baby: Ensuring Your Little One Gets the Best Night's Sleep Possible

4/10/2017

When you first have a child, you may think that they barely sleep. After all, it feels like you hardly get any shut-eye between feeding, cuddles, and playtime. But the average newborn should get around sixteen to seventeen hours every single day. You just feel exhausted because they rarely take this sleep in long stretches like adults do. They’ll awake regularly for feeding, changing and sometimes just for a little cry for crying’s sake. While you may be tired, you need to remember that sleep for baby is much more essential than for you as a functioning adult. So be patient and they’ll grow into a more convenient sleeping pattern over the next few months. Here’s everything to know about your bundle of joy’s sleeping patterns, habits, and needs.

Choosing the right car seat for your child can be a daunting task, with so many different makes and models plus the new i-Size seats there is so much choice out there. How do you decide what is best for your most precious cargo?

Your Complete Guide to Pram Safety

7/12/2016

As expectant parents there is so many things to think about. High up the list is what pushchairs and prams to buy for your little one. This is a big decision – your child is going to spend a lot of time it their pram and it needs to suit your lifestyle too. Got a small car? Do you want to exercise with the pram? Do you need a tandem? So many things to think about so you shouldn’t rush to purchase as you need to think it all through and make sure you make the sensible and most importantly safe choice for your baby.

I've teamed up with nursery specialists Babythingz who are the experts in pram safety to produce this guide so you have everything you need to to ensure your precious bundle is always safe and secure

Standards to look out for

The first thing you need to check is that the pram has a stafety standard reference.

You can check this by spotting either the code BS 7409 or the mark BSEN 1888:2003 somewhere on the equipment, most often it can be found on a label placed around the frame or the seat covering.
These codes and marks show, whether new or used, that the pram complies with either British Standard/European Standard 1888: 2012 or British Standard/European Standard EN 1888:2003.

Baby Shower Fun

28/9/2016

Over the Summer I co-hosted a baby shower for my little Sister-in-law. We knew she was pregnant with a baby boy so one Sunday we pretended to take her out for lunch but when she arrived she found a hoard of us in the garden ready to celebrate her pending arrival.
I was in charge of games which was great as I had a set of baby shower games I had created for my bestie's baby shower (you can download them as free baby shower games printables here) plus we played the peg game where you peg 3 pegs on your top and if you say the word 'baby' someone can steal a peg. Little E was a master at this game!

Free Baby Shower Games Printables

I've had the honour of hosting a few baby showers this year and the games are always so much fun. I want to share with you the best baby shower games as free printable downloads which you can print straight from your computer to save you time and money.

I've put my creative hat on and designed two games; Animal pregnancy, guests have to match the number of days gestation with the correct animal, and Karaoke Baby, a fun fill in the missing lyrics game with, of course, a baby theme! Both games can be played in teams or as individuals and work well as ice breakers, games to play over snacks or filler games to whip out during a lull.

Review: Chicco Next 2 Me Bedside Cot

Chicco Next 2 Me Bedside Cot Review Picture
When Mums-to-be ask me my must have product for a newborn my first recommendation is always a bedside dropside co-sleeper cot. In my experience the quality of sleep for both for Mum and baby is greatly improved by having baby so close but yet within their own separate bed space to calm any co-sleeping fears. It also makes breastfeeding at night easier. The new Next 2 Me Crib by Chicco is undoubtedly one of the best bedside co-sleeper cots on the market due to it's versatile and portable design. With the imminent arrival of my Little Nephew we were sent a Next 2 Me for my Sister and I to review. Here's what we think!

It feels like a lifetime ago we were strapping our girls into the car for their first ride home. With a newborn on the way there are so many preparations underway and so many things to be taking care of; between numerous shopping sprees and getting the house in perfect order, we often tend to forget the most important part of the preparation rituals - checking the car tyres!
