 When you first have a child, you may think that they barely sleep. After all, it feels like you hardly get any shut-eye between feeding, cuddles, and playtime. But the average newborn should get around sixteen to seventeen hours every single day. You just feel exhausted because they rarely take this sleep in long stretches like adults do. They’ll awake regularly for feeding, changing and sometimes just for a little cry for crying’s sake. While you may be tired, you need to remember that sleep for baby is much more essential than for you as a functioning adult.  Both my girls were a complete nightmare to wean off breastfeeding. I was at my wits end because neither of them could be left for more than a few hours even at 9mths old. Both my girls have been water babies since they were tiny babies but with both having sensitive skin I have to be really careful about what I put in their bath. You can check this by spotting either the code BS 7409 or the mark BSEN 1888:2003 somewhere on the equipment, most often it can be found on a label placed around the frame or the seat covering. These codes and marks show, whether new or used, that the pram complies with either British Standard/European Standard 1888: 2012 or British Standard/European Standard EN 1888:2003.
Over the Summer I co-hosted a baby shower for my little Sister-in-law. We knew she was pregnant with a baby boy so one Sunday we pretended to take her out for lunch but when she arrived she found a hoard of us in the garden ready to celebrate her pending arrival.

I've had the honour of hosting a few baby showers this year and the games are always so much fun. I've put my creative hat on and designed two games; Animal pregnancy, guests have to match the number of days gestation with the correct animal, and Karaoke Baby, a fun fill in the missing lyrics game with, of course, a baby theme! When Mums-to-be ask me my must have product for a newborn my first recommendation is always a bedside dropside co-sleeper cot. In my experience the quality of sleep for both for Mum and baby is greatly improved by having baby so close but yet within their own separate bed space to calm any co-sleeping fears. It feels like a lifetime ago we were strapping our girls into the car for their first ride home. With a newborn on the way there are so many preparations underway and so many things to be taking care of; between numerous shopping sprees and getting the house in perfect order, we often tend to forget the most important part of the preparation rituals - checking the car tyres!
