Last week was all tears but this week has been very smiley. Esspecially when in the highchair doing her favourite thing; eating. She is really on the move (albeit slowly) She bum shuffles and commando crawls but backwards resulting in some dodgy reversing into furniture and getting stuck. Last week I reported we had a potential 'Mama'. Unfortunately there are no further developments however 'Dada' has emerged very clear and is being repeated constantly all day much to Husband's delight. Peek a boo is a favourite game and she has begun playing it back! Here she is using her big sis' coat to hide behind. Spot the little hands! I couldn't resist dressing them up for a visit to Nanna's. They looked so cute in their similar outfits! And teeth are nearly here! We can see the bottom front two in the gum. The teething gels are out in force! A new linky started by Katy and Jenna over at two of my favourite blogs has inspired me to write about my week including the stuff I've been up to not just the kids! Out and about Miserable weather this week so we didn't make it to the park but Little E started her new gymnastic class or 'Nastics' as she calls it. She loved it and it was such a relief to find a class where they actually police the children. I'm not even allowed in the room with her! Great as I have Little I in tow to entertain. We also tried out a new fun class called Whirly Wiggle. It is a story club and each week the children go on a new imagination adventure led by the puppets Whirly and Wiggle. This week they flew up to space in their own rockets. They act, dance and sing their way through the class and at the end musical instruments come out for the final act. Definitely the best class we have ever been to and at £3.50 for a drop in session it is super reasonable and fits in with our varied routine which usually stops us from signing up to these kind of classes. Fun at home We have sheltered from the rain at home a lot this week! We've watched a few movie including The Secret of the Sword throwing me back to my childhood. I love that Little E enjoys watching the films I grow up with. Bestie came over with Little B and 3 week old Little T for the day. It was the first time the six of us have been here together and it was a lovely. I can't get enough baby cuddles and Little T makes my Little I look huge!!!! We also turned the kitchen spring clean into a lot of fun by enlisting Little E as my helper. She was great at emptying out the hard to access corner cupboards! We now have lids for all the Tupperware and a separate cupboard for all the weaning paraphernalia. Time for me Don't faint. I went to the cinema this week. Proper cinema not Saturday morning kids club! I saw Gone Girl starting Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike. I had read the book so had high hopes and it was a pretty good adaptation staying very close to the original storyline. A little too close in some parts as the slightly ridiculous elements of the book they had kept in. But overall a great night out. To make this a very extraordinary week I had a facial. Haven't had one of those since my honeymoon 6yrs ago! It was a great setup; a local beauty therapist hosts a pamper afternoon at her house for 4 or 5 friends. You have tea and cake downstairs taking it in turns to pop upstairs to the treatment room for half an hour whilst downstairs your friends look after your baby. Genius idea. We'll be back for more! My happiest moment Husband handed over stage 1 of a massive work project this week which was a big cause for celebration. Very proud of him. Next week I would like to... I want to continue the house sort out by gathering up all Little E's artwork, baby cards and other special stuff which is cluttering up the house and put it all in memory box in the loft. That way it won't be ruined and I can reclaim some of the cupboard space. I also want to get the 9-12mth baby clothes out of the loft to see what I need to get for Little I this winter. Not a lot I imagine but it is surprising what stains magically develop after 3yrs in the loft! Lastly I want to watch Homeland when the new series starts tomorrow. Exciting! Apart from the weekend when Husband was home. Little I was super happy then, all smiles and independent playing. Made me look like a right fibber. Husband giving her her first donut may have had something to do with it... We got lots of Little E's old toys out of loft and Little I loves them and know exactly how to make them work. Little E has been desperate to play with them too. So much for age appropriate play... We have finished breastfeeding for good by dropping the bedtime feed. Bittersweet for me but Little I just looked confused. Bedtime and no boobie? It has only taken a couple of days for her to forget the boob and fall asleep on the bottle instead. We have also had rumours of the word 'Mama' being said/cried when I am out of the room. As I have not been there to witness I cannot confirm this but I like to think it is true all the same! I have just put Little I to bed, feeding her myself for the last time. Tomorrow I will drop the final feed and she will be put to bed with a bottle. I know it is the right time as she fights with the boobies now instead of relaxing. I know it is my decision and a big part of me feels relief that I have done my job well for over 7mths and we are ready to move onto the next stage. Husband can start to be involved in bedtime more and I can actually get out of the house now and then. But she is my last baby. So that was my last breastfeed ever. And I'm sad. Proper sad. Because I'll never experience that again. I'm not a breastfeeding fanatic, people should feed their babies however works for them. But it worked for me and I continued to grow my babies with my milk which made me incredibly happy despite it being extremely hard work at the start and very painful at times. So whilst this time next week I'll be over the worst of the discomfort as my boobs realise they are no longer needed and I'll be feeling happy that this chapter has come to an end and I can finally sleep on my front, drink gin and wear underwired bras, tonight I will be unashamedly sad. One year ago today I published my first blog post!
I was 20 weeks pregnant with my second child and I wanted to share my experiences with other parents. It began as mainly a pregnancy diary where I vented about SPD, the trauma of getting an elective C-section on the NHS and heartburn! Little I completed our family on 18th February 2014 (on Husband's 30th birthday) and the blog focus has shifted with her arrival. The reviews of maternity clothes and C-section support belts have morphed into prams and highchairs. Running alongside it all 3yr old Little E's adventures have been charted. The good, the bad and the downright awful moments of life with a Threenager! Over the last couple of months Little I has been loving her new food adventures as we wean her onto solids. She has taken to food amazingly well and is the definition of a hungry baby. I am sharing some of my favourite weaning essentials helping make the first foray into food a little bit easier. OXO Tot Divided feeding dish and On the go feeding spoon. From £4.50 I like the OXO Tot products because the design is really clever. The Divided dish is great because you can feed two different foods easily from the same bowl and the silicone ring makes scraping excess food from the spoon a doddle. The lid fits really securely allowing you to store leftovers without mess - a godsend when out and about. The On the go feeding spoon is perfectly contoured for feeding baby and comes with a handy box so you can keep it (and the rest of your bag) clean. Both are dishwasher safe and you can pop the dish in the microwave. Tesco Loves Baby Sticky fingers clean up wipes 77p Babies + food = mess! Baby wipes are a must and these Tesco Loves Baby Sticky fingers clean up wipes are great because they are have a fruity fragrance making them perfect for wiping mucky faces and fingers. Chicco Pocket Snack travel booster seat highchair £29.99 Highchairs in restaurants are a bit hit and miss. Most are inappropriate for little babies and often have straps missing. And don't even get me started on how dirty they usually are. So for us a travel highchair is absolutely essential. As part of the Chicco Tested for Happiness blogger programme we were sent the Pocket Snack to test and it has been a godsend. The mini highchair collapses flat and easily fits in our pram basket. It straps very securely to a chair using adjustable straps underneath the seat and around the back. The velco tabs allow you to easily tidy the straps when not in use. There is a detachable tray which acts as a mini table or it can be pushed right up to the table and the 3 adjustable height settings mean baby can sit at the perfect height. I cannot praise this product highly enough. We use it everywhere and we get so many comments from other parents when using it. Little I loves being up at the same height as us and the little tray acts as her own little table. Tesco Loves Baby Wide neck gripper bottle £1.90 Along with introducing food comes cooled boiled water. Lots of fun for baby to pour all over the highchair and spray water fountains! Little I has been struggling to hold a sippy cup high enough for these early stages we have tried this Tesco wide neck gripper bottle to help her to independently drink water. It has really helped the transition to a cup. And finally this fun graphic from Tesco Loves Baby includes loads of interesting stats about weaning out little ones! We are yet to try cod and cornflakes... Some of the products above were sent to us for review purposes but all opinions are our own.
